Also nice to find out that ballast can be added to the forward compartment to trom the boat...why did I not think of that???...Lou K | | | Post Reply | | |

| | Date: | Sat 17 Oct 2009 20:08:25 BST | | Subject: | Illusion Ballast Question for Safe Sailing | | | I own an Illusion II desinged by Jo Richards adn Neil Graham (1982 Vintage)that I bought used. It came with about 130 lb(58.9kg) of lead shot ballast in canvas bags. I added about 103 lb (46.7 Kg)of lead bars for a total of 233 lb (195.7kg) of ballast. Although the boat is not a true 2.4MR design which call out a ballast of about 332 lb (151kg) to 400lb ( 181kg) I would like someone to reply in regard to the recommended amount of ballast for the Illusion II that I own. I have the only Illusion II in my area which I do not race. I have done a lot of searching and I just find it had to believe that anyone can get 400lb (181kg)of ballast in the small keel well. Thanks in advance for any reply....Lou K | | | Post Reply | | |
